Dear Future Client,
First off… can I just say how proud I am of you? Seriously. Choosing to start therapy takes courage, and even though it might feel a little scary or uncertain, you’ve already taken one of the hardest steps—showing up.
I know this process can feel intimidating (and maybe even a little awkward at first), but my goal is to make therapy feel like a safe, judgment-free zone where you can show up exactly as you are. Come as your messy, curious, healing, or “still figuring it out” self—there’s room for all of it here.
Together, we’ll create a space that feels personal to you—a space where you can be open, honest, and heard. I want your experience to feel supportive, empowering, and yes, even a little fun sometimes. Therapy doesn’t have to be all tears and tissues—it can also be full of laughter, lightbulb moments, and growth you never saw coming.
I’m genuinely happy you’re here. You deserve to feel seen, understood, and cared for—and I can’t wait to be part of your journey toward that.
With warmth (and a little happy dance),
Shakirie Simmons, MSW, LISW-CP
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Starting therapy can feel a little scary, but that’s completely normal! In our first few sessions, we’ll focus on getting to know you—your story, goals, and what brought you here. Expect a safe, judgment-free space where you can be honest, take your time, and start exploring what healing looks like for you.
-
While friends offer support and advice, therapy gives you a confidential space with someone trained to help you understand patterns, emotions, and behaviors on a deeper level. A therapist listens without bias and uses evidence-based techniques to help you heal and grow. It’s less about quick advice and more about lasting change.
